I went in not really knowing what to expect, and I came out having had so many good conversations. I talked to engineers, a couple of founders, and even some researchers whose work I&rsquo;d only read about before. Everyone was way friendlier than I thought they&rsquo;d be.</p> <p>This week I went to Cybersec Europe for two days. Everyone was way friendlier than I thought they&rsquo;d be.</p> <p>It&rsquo;s kind of a nice feeling to talk to people who just <em>get it</em> — you don&rsquo;t have to explain everything from scratch. I learned a lot just from random chats in the hallways and over beer.</p> <h2 id="looking-for-an-internship">Looking for an internship</h2> <p>I was also there to look for an internship, which was honestly the part I was most nervous about. But people were so nice about it. A bunch of them took the time to tell me which teams were hiring, gave me advice on what to focus on, and a couple even introduced me to people directly.</p> <p>If any of you are reading this — thank you, seriously. It meant a lot, especially as a student still figuring things out.</p> <h2 id="what-i-took-away">What I took away</h2> <p>A few things stuck with me:</p> <ul> <li>Security is a huge field and there&rsquo;s still so much I want to learn.</li> <li>Everyone is trying to figure out how AI fits into all this, even the experts.</li> <li>People in this community are really generous with their time and advice.</li> </ul> <h2 id="until-next-time">Until next time</h2> <p>I went home tired but with a notebook full of ideas and a few new contacts I really want to stay in touch with.
